Hunter x Hunter is a popular anime and manga series about an adolescent boy who joins a group of hunters in order to find his father. The series has been adapted into several movies, OVAs, and TV specials.

The hunter x hunter watch order reddit is a list of the Hunter X Hunter anime series, movies, and specials.

Hunter x Hunter, one of the most popular anime and manga series of all time, is riding the crest of the wave. Hunter x Hunter has been a popular series since its debut in 1998, and the manga has been adapted into anime many times since then. The anime was a tremendous hit, as expected, and it’s still going strong with some amazing action.

Hunter x Hunter, on the other hand, has a slew of anime adaptations as well as a backlog of OVAs and feature films to see, making the series a bit daunting for newcomers. But don’t worry; I’m here to provide you a complete viewer’s guide and introduction to the famous series. The Hunter X Hunter series and movies should be seen in this sequence.

Watches from the Hunter x Hunter Series are now available for purchase.

Two anime adaptations of the Hunter x Hunter manga series have been produced: a 1999 version and a more recent and continuing 2011 version. The 1999 adaptation includes 92 episodes (including the OVAs), whereas the 2011 adaptation has 148.

I usually suggest beginning with the 1999 adaptation and working your way up to the 2011 version, which is basically a reboot. The older version’s fillers are funny, and the anime as a whole has a more serious tone than the current version; nevertheless, the 2011 translation is better in terms of animation, has almost no fillers, and contains two more arcs, one of which is considered the finest. Hunter x Hunter’s optimal watch order is as follows:

Hunters vs Hunters (1999-2003)

  • 62 episodes of Hunter X Hunter (1999).
  • Hunter X Hunter: Spider (OVA, 8 episodes) was released in 2002.
  • Hunter X Hunter: Greed Island is an eight-episode OVA released in 2003.
  • OVA, 14 episodes, Hunter X Hunter: Greed Island Final (2004)

Hunters vs Hunters (2011-2014)

  • Arc of the Hunter Exam (Episodes 1-26)
  • Arc of Heaven’s Arena (Episodes 27-38)
  • Arc of the Phantom Troupe (Episodes 39-58)
  • Arc of Greed Island (Episodes 58-75)
  • Arc of the Chimera Ant (Episodes 76-136)
  • Arc of the election (Episodes 136-148)

Movies about Hunters vs. Hunters Keep an eye on the situation

In 2013, the Hunter x Hunter films were adapted into a manga series. Because they aren’t canon, none of them have much of an effect on the series, thus this is the recommended order in which to watch them.

  • Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rouge is an action-adventure game (2013)
  • Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission is a game developed by Hunter x Hunter (2013)

Hunters vs Hunters Ordering a Complete Watch

The episodes play an important role in the character development and the investigation of many backstories. Any episodes, including the OVAs, should not be skipped (for the 1999 version). The films are self-contained and should be viewed once the series is completed.

Hunter x Hunter is a series of hunting games (Both 1999 and 2011)

The tale starts with Gon Freecss, a little boy who discovers that his presumed-dead father is alive and healthy. He learns that his father, Ging, is a renowned “Hunter,” a member of humanity’s elite who has distinguished themselves.

Despite the fact that Ging abandoned his child to pursue his own ambitions, Gon is inspired to follow in his father’s footsteps, pass the rigorous “Hunter Examination,” and ultimately hunt down his father to become a Hunter in his own right, with a desire to meet him.

1. Arc of the Hunter Exam

The Hunter Exam arc is the first in the series. The arc is made up of the first 38 chapters of the manga, the first 31 episodes of the 1999 anime adaptation, and the first 21 episodes of the 2011 anime version. During this arc, applicants from all around the globe take the Hunter Exam to become Professional Hunters. The major characters of the series are also introduced in this arc.

Gon must do a number of odd activities in order to become a Hunter, including traversing a perilous forest, hunting other candidates, killing a wild boar, running an underground marathon, and making sushi. During the Hunter Exam, Gon meets and befriends three of the hopefuls: Kurapika, Killua, and Leorio. The series’ first adversary is also presented as one of the contestants.

Hisoka is a clever adversary who uses playing cards as weapons and views Gon as a “unripe fruit” whom he plans to kill once he develops into a danger. Killua is challenged by his brother, Illumi, before the Hunter Exam is finished, and he is forced to return home before the exam is done.

2. Arc of the Heavens’ Arena

The third (actually second) narrative arc in the series is The Heavens Arena. The arc is made up of Chapters 44–63 in the manga, Episodes 37–44 in the 1999 anime adaptation, and Episodes 27–36 in the 2011 anime version.

Gon and Killua go to Heavens Arena, a 251-story building where individuals compete in 24-hour combat matches for money. Wing, a Kung-Fu teacher who teaches them about Nen, a chip-like energy capable of generating superhuman abilities, meets them here.

He teaches Zushi, a young kid who joins Gon and Killua in order to earn money and get experience fighting in the tournament. Hisoka is also in the competition. Gon ultimately gets a second opportunity to confront Hisoka, this time to show how far he’s come.

3. Arc of the Phantom Troupe

1633852399_774_Hunter-X-Hunter-Watch-Order-Including-Series-And-Movies

The Yorknew City arc (or “Phantom Troupe arc” in the Viz version) is the fourth (actually third) narrative arc in the series, focused on Kurapika’s involvement with the Mafia in order to recover his clan’s stolen Scarlet Eyes. Kurapika’s mission eventually gets intertwined with his clan’s assassins and the famous Phantom Troupe, the focus of his anger, and takes place mainly in Yorknew City.

The four major characters reunite in Yorknew Metropolis, a massive city, for the world’s largest auction. Gon, Killua, and Leorio use a variety of methods to save up enough money to buy Greed Island, a JoyStation Console video game that may help Gon find his father.

Meanwhile, Kurapika serves as a bodyguard for Neon Nostrade, a flesh collector and the daughter of a Mafia family’s leader, in order to assist him in gaining access to his clan’s Scarlet Eyes, which are set to be auctioned in the same city. In Yorknew City, the Phantom Troupe, a gang of criminals responsible for the assassination of Kurapika’s clan, has gathered.

4. Arc of Greed Island

Greed Island is the fifth (technically fourth) story arc in the series. It follows Gon and Killua as they go across Greed Island, with the former continuing his search for Ging. Along the way, they meet another Nen teacher and discover that an evil trio is killing other players to clear the game.

Following the fight with the Phantom Troupe, Gon, Killua, and Leorio return to help Kurapika in her recovery. Leorio and Kurapika leave once again, bringing Gon and Killua back into focus. Gon and Killua are permitted to join a team assembled by millionaire Battera to play the game.

Biscuit Krueger, a 57-year-old woman who has the appearance of a 12-year-old girl and is a master and experienced Nen teacher, joins Gon and Killua and instructs them in Nen. As the story progresses, a player known as the Bomber starts to blow up other players. To defeat the Bomber, Gon, Killua, and Biscuit join forces with other players.

In addition, the Phantom Troupe travels to Greed Island in quest of a Nen-remover capable of removing the Nen sword Kurapika used to nullify Chrollo Lucilfer’s abilities.

5. Arc of the Chimera Ant

The Chimera Ant arc, renamed “Chimera Ants Arc” by Viz, is the series’ sixth (technically fifth) narrative arc. The plot of the manga spans from Chapters 186 to 318. The manga was not animated in the original anime adaptation due to its irregular publishing schedule (from the 1999 anime version). In the 2011 anime adaptation, the arc starts with Episode 76 and ends with Episode 136.

After leaving Greed Island, Gon and Killua run across Kite. They’ve all been recruited to investigate a strange insect leg that washed up on the coast. The leg belongs to an unusually large Chimera Ant Queen that washed ashore on the shoreline of the NGL, according to genetic research (Neo-Green Life).

The Chimera Ants kill off the bulk of the population and produce hundreds of children for the next generation before Gon, Killua, and Kite arrive to stop her.

6. Arc of the Election

1633852401_701_Hunter-X-Hunter-Watch-Order-Including-Series-And-Movies

The election arc, called “Hunter Elections Arc” by Viz, spans chapters 319–339 of the manga and is the series’ seventh (actually sixth) narrative arc. Following the debut of the 2011 anime adaptation, the arc was released. In the 2011 anime version, it starts with episode 137 and ends with episode 148. (the final episode of the 2011 anime adaptation).

During his battle with Meruem, the Chimera Ant King, Netero, the Hunter chairman, perished. A new Hunter chairman is needed, so the Zodiacs gather to hold a fresh election for the post. The institution is run by Ging Freecss, a Zodiac member.

Leorio returns and quickly positions himself as one of the race’s top contenders. These events serve as a background for Killua and his henchmen’s attempts to use Alluka Zoldyck’s Nen ability to revive a hospitalized Gon. Because of the potential dangers involved with utilizing Alluka’s abilities, Illumi, with the assistance of Hisoka, tries to dissuade Killua from doing so.

Movies about Hunters vs. Hunters (2013)

The plot of the film starts with Gon, an adult, learning that his deceased father was not really dead, but rather a famous Hunter. Rather than feeling alone, Gon makes the decision to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a skilled Hunter. The work of a hunter is difficult, and Gon must pass an exam in order to become an officer hunter. Along the journey, he meets friends, and they should all help each other overcome obstacles.

Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rouge is the seventh installment in the Hunter x Hunter series (2013)

Hunter Hunter: Phantom Rouge follows Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio as they confront a deadly guy who used to be a member of their greatest foe, the Phantom Troupe, a criminal organization.

To revenge his clan’s murder at the hands of the Class-A criminal group Phantom Troupe for their unique eyes, Kurapika became a Hunter. In times of rage or emotional intensity, the Kurta clan’s eyes become red, and they are regarded as the world’s most beautiful gems.

Kurapika is still following the Phantom Troupe, but his “scarlet eyes” have been stolen by an unknown group. Kurapika’s life was saved due to Gon, Killua, and Leorio’s efforts. On the other side, the Phantom Troupe emerges ahead of them and blocks their way. The true identity of the person who has the No. 4 spider tattoo will be revealed.

Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission (Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission) (Hunter x Hunter (2013)

The manga series Hunter Hunter: The Last Mission is the sequel to Hunter Hunter. The film was released on home video in North America.

The Hunter Association’s most powerful Hunters were split into two factions: “bright” and “dark,” each of which pursued its own path. The “bad” side continues their campaign to eliminate all Hunters! Following a brutal assault by the “bad” side Hunters, Killua is wounded and Kurapika is on the brink of death.

What is the real motivation behind the assault on all Hunters? Now that Netero’s and the Association’s wrongdoings have been exposed, it’s time to move on. Will Gon turn to the dark side for the power he needs to rescue his friends? When Netero’s and the Hunter Association’s many wrongdoings are exposed, what steps will Gon take…?

Is it necessary to watch Hunter x Hunter in chronological order?

Hunter x Hunter must be seen in order to properly comprehend the storyline and chronology, since each successful episode is dependent on the success of the previous episode. These episodes contribute substantially to character development and the study of a variety of backstories, which is why I recommend that you watch all of them, even the OVAs. The films, on the other hand, are stand-alone and should be seen once the series is finished. They should be seen in the order mentioned above as well.

Is There Going to Be Another Hunter x Hunter Anime?

Hunter x Hunter Season 7 is expected to debut shortly! The manga’s creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, has indicated in a few interviews that the anime would have a “good” ending. Following Togashi’s remarks, it seems likely that Hunter X Hunter will be renewed for a second season. Togashi hasn’t made an official announcement on the release date, but given the present status of the pandemic, it’s possible that the anime could come in late 2022.
